In case someone out there has the same zuchinni problem I thought I would post the answer I finally found. I thought my problem was some type of insect but I never saw any and even though I sprayed faithfully still had the problem. It is a fungus called Microdochium blight and is new. What luck, I'm among the first to get it. Here is a good description taken from our TN Ext. Serv. Bulletin Light tan to white, sunken, spindle-shaped lesions appear on the main stems, fruit stems, main leaf veins and sometimes, on the fruit and leaf blades. Individual lesions are only l/8 inch long, but often unite to form a solid tan to white, dry, brittle surface. Leaves wither and defoliation can occur rapidly. Control: fungicides, crop rotation.

well if TN has is MS soon will,i am about ready to give up on summer squash, & move to edible gourds completely!
