I have a bob white chick who seems to have lost his equalibrium, he can't stand up. I am very worried. I don't know if it is a contagious disease or what. please help if you can. Also, does anyone know where I can buy a used (or new) gamebird health book?? Thank you Russell

Sounds like a vitamin E deficiency or a hard hit on the head, if it hasn't fallen or otherwise been hit, I would say vit.E.

I'm sorry - this is probably too late, but I didn't have a suggestion before. A local poultry magazine suggests honey as first aid for sickly chicks. Diluted at the rate of about one teaspoonful in a tablespoon of water, and fed to bird from a dropper. The simple sugars of the honey can give enough of an energy boost to kick-start a bird - particularly a chick which has low reserves. Also, if a bird isn't eating, a slice of bread cut into cubes, then soaked in this mixture, may be easy enough to eat, and nourishing enough, to get the bird headed in the right direction.
