need rebuilder/restorer for wood/gas cookstove

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have an antique wood/gas cook stove with overhead warming ovens in pretty good shape. I would like to locate someone competent to rebuild/restore it so that we can use it in our home for our primairy cookstove. Any pointers to someone in that business would be appreciated. Good work is much more important than location.

Thanks, Gene Gruender Austin, Tx.

Texas Stove works are good but, expensive. You should check in Austin first for an old timer that worked on gas stoves. Many of the stove restorers have a long waiting list. if you are at all handy then go to antique stoves.com and get their manuals on doing it yourself. Usually all they need is a good cleaning and stove valve cream.
