1yr Border Collie w/ attitude for Adoption FREE

I know of a person who has a 1 yr old papered Border Collie, improperly trained and with overall bad manners. The poor thing has spent most of his life in a 'box' as the owners tried to crate train him. Duh. The dog is is in excellent health, with all shots etc., and well on his way to be a very handsome pet/work dog at the skillful hands of my son. This dog needs lots of love and lots of room! He does not take well at first,to strangers especially to children. The dog is in Putnam County, N.Y. My son and I would be very grateful to the persons who would take this beautiful animal into their heart and home.

There is nothing wrong with crate training any dog. It makes it much easier if they have to stay at the vet, transporting safely, etc. The dog may have been improperly trained, but please don't bash crate training!

Hey Kathy,

Go to the archives, to Working Dogs, and about 15 down is a thread called "Have home for Border Collie". Lana Pettey. She's up north somewhere, and the dogs I had for placement were too far to get them to her. Email her, maybe she'll want him. She doesn't care about bad manners and loves her dogs. Good Luck! Let us know.

Thank you all. I have several messages out and hope to have answers soon. Sorry about the misunderstanding about crate training. I too, am a fan of this 'tool' when used properly it is invaluable. The problem here was they stuck him in there and ignored him instead of using it to train him. I appreciate the time taken to respond to my post by everyone, and will let you know the ending. Kathy
