A 19-year-old woman was rushed to hospital on Tuesday evening after falling from an Oslo apartment balcony.

She recoiled in fright when playing children threw a fake spider at her. She tumbled over the rails, plummeting to the ground four floors below.

The woman suffered serious leg fractures, but fortunately no head injuries. She was conscious when the ambulance drove off from the Tøyen apartment at 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The injured woman's condition was described on Wednesday morning as serious, but stable. She was to undergo surgery for her fractures. The police described the fall as an accident. Several children and three adults were in the apartment at the time.
