Should I DQ MOTUMBO's Tropical Angel recording?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MARP Editors : One Thread

In his recording - I've not watched German Krol's yet - he makes no attempt to get any further through the A-1 level but instead spends all his time collecting the 2k points for the ski jump until his time runs out. Let me know what you think of this before I DQ it for points leeching - or does it need to go to a vote of the MARP community to become a banned technique in which case could Pete please call a vote.

My position would be that it's ok to do this so long as you eventually go on to complete the stage - since this game has a such short timer.

Cheers, BeeJay.

I remember looking at some Ninja Spirit inps some time ago that were like that... nothing but leeching near the end of stage 1, until their last life. At least Renzo and Kale went to stage 3 and sort of looked like they were trying to progress... I have a japanese inp that finishes the game with a score of 610K. Kale gets over 500K without finishing half the game. I should probably have a look over these scores again sometime.

My understanding is this: does Motumbo inherit a net gain of lives earned during the leeching? If not, then it's legal unless you place a vote to ban the technique. (majority vote wins)

Now if this was in a tournament, then he would get burned for not proceding in the game.

For an olympiad? I don't know.

I have a similar problem debating to DQ the wardener recording of MondoMilla. During this recording there definitly is a small net gain of lives but only gains a 100k of points, when the game finishes with a whopping bonus (i haven't determined if the leeching contributes to the whopping bonus). All i've done is confirm the score since it does playback but I don't see where the wardener leeching guidlines are defined in Marp. I would add them to the game specific rules if I could find them....
