Raves in Raleigh area

greenspun.com : LUSENET : North Carolina Raves : One Thread

Hey Everybody, I just moved to Chapel Hill from Arizona. Big change! And to be perfectly honest the party scene here kind of sucks. In the past I haven't been hard core into the rave scene -- I usually went to intense techno clubs. However, I'm going to go nuts if I can't dance to some good music soon, so I'm looking for ANYWHERE cool to party in the area. Please let me know if you have any ideas. I've been fairly unsuccessful since I've been her :) Sunshine and Smiles, Danielle

Boy do I hear you guys!!!! I moved last Sept 2001 from Denver-Talk about boring this place is certainly in desperate need of some high intensity techno clubs-I can only find a few hours of techno at the Warehouse from about 1am to closing-But at this point I take what I can get!!! You all let me know to if you found anything better- otherwise I am all up for starting our own club-I have backing money!!! Let's do it-Desperately seeking some(techno) Susan

You know, that does not sound like a bad idea. I'm sure if we all rented out the Armory and promoted it by word or mouth or online we could make a big party. All local and from scratch. I remember an event that started like this idea it was called WOODSTOCK!!!!

I know whatcha mean. After many a night in European Clubs, I find it very hard to beleive that any of the clubs I've been to around here in various locations of the US can come close. Check out http://www.ministryofsound.com

the problem is no one in the area knows of any good headliners. Ex. Grooverider was here earlier in the summer @ the office and 75% of everyone stayed in the hip hop room. go figure. Another problem is that people don't even know about events until the day after. so promoting is a large issue as well. People tend to fear what they dont understand.i have lived in raleigh my whole life and the party scene does need help w/o question. any ideas? we should set up a meeting place and discuss some ways we can all contribute to bookings for the spring/summer of 2005. it takes a few good people, loyalty, and unfortunatley money. trust me i know, i have helped throw some parties here in raleigh. But i am fully dedicated to supporting the scene for all those who really know the deal. Maybe create some new strategies to bring in a bigger and possibly new crowd, i'm sure there are some good ideas circling about. E-mail me if anyone wants to discuss in further detail to see what can be done.
