Inversion Tables

Having chronic back troubles, I have been pondering getting one of those inversion tables. Does anyone have experience with them at all? It looks like it would feel really, really good!

Man, are they pricey! Yet another thing where welding would come in handy. If they really help, it might be a wash between the chiro and the table....and then figure in gas and time....hmmmm.

Doreen, if you are having back pain, I HIGHLY recommend a TENS unit if you can get your hands on one. I have obtained one recently and with all my back problems this is the first thing I have found that actually helps! Even more than pain pills! It gives you a little electrical shock and apparently confuses the brain so that the pain doesn't register. It is not curative but sure helps the pain. The inversion tables can be dangerous especially if you should happen to have an aneurysm in your brain which we could have without knowing. I would be very leary of using one.

I has terrible back pain and found myself snowed in in a little town in W. VA. No place to stay as all the motels in the area were booked. A local cop offered me a cell at the jail since they had no prisoners at the time and it was heated.Since my options were limited, I took him up on the offer. A night on that solid steel rack with a two inch pad left my back feeling so good when I left to head home the next day, I built one at home (would rather not get locked up for a treatment:>). Whenever the pain gets too bad I sleep on my "crossbar hotel deluxe bed" and I feel better.

Hmmmm. As far as I know I don't have an anuerysm. I have never heard that kind of thing before! I'm glad the TENS is working for you, Barbara. I have used them in the past, and when I go to the chiro I get a treatment with it. I have a weird thing going on with my knee which I think is related to my back really being sore lately. It feels like my knee is slightly out of joint. My chiro tried to put it back but to no avail, and it seems like this stretching would take care of it. I do regular stretches all the time, but can't get this thing straightened out. I'm about to throw a rope over a rafter in the barn and pulley the sucker so that I'm swinging in the wind!

Doreen, the knee pain could well be coming from your back. In fact, that is where my back problems first showed itself last year and this time. It eventually spreads to my entire leg. Hope that is not the case for you. Have you had any Xrays?

By the way, I have had the TENS used on me at chiropractors and physical therapy too but did not seem to help as much as wearing it most of the day.

My brother had back surgery 4 yrs ago and bought an inversion table about 6 months after the surgery. It is fabulous. I have had back problems for the last 4 years and this unit has helped me avoid the chiropracter since. Back pain, leg pain, neck pain... the inversion table has helped to eliminate all of it. Love It! The cost of the inversion will pay for itself within 6 months if you are a regular at the chiropracter. I highly recommend them!

I've had back problems ever since being a tree planter twenty years ago. Being a building contractor afterwards hasn't helped much.

I recently was prescribed (by a pulmonologist, no less) a spa. I bought it. I use it. Almost every day.

My back's much much better. Other muscles as well.
