What next ? Abbey National and Eversheds

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

I'm a 'Grabby' victim and have been fighting my case for 2 years now. I have now whittled Abbey National down to £1000 (initially it was over £20,000). Can anybody recommend a solicitor/body who can check the paperwork they have sent me, that removes me from any liability, before I agree, sign, and pay up ?

Also, should I mention the MIG that I paid, and whether they claimed against it ? I am still very bitter to give them a penny, especially as they have still not justified their claim -- any advice would be very much appreciated.

Regards

Not that difficult to do - I appreciate you really want to dot every 'i' and cross every 't', but, all you need to ask them to do is to say that this amount is in "full and final settlement".

That is a key legal phrase which means that they can no longer pursue you and that the debt is fully discharged. It may be as well to ask that any adverse entries from your credit files at Equifax and Experian etc are also removed.

Needless to say get this in writing BEFORE stumping up the cash...

attached is the text from my letter, also to Evershits. Chris is pretty much there with the full and final bit. My letter came from NACABS. The areas I've left in CAPITALS are for the personal bits to be chucked in. I can't definitively say its the best letter but it covers the main bits and did the trick for me. Well done. 1K from 20K is a result. Mine was 1.5K from 18K.
