The Bombing of the Word Trade Center and Explosions - Let us Pray

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Children of God,

We are in dangerous times. This morning, the World Trade Centers in New York City have collapsed because of two plains colliding into them. Then, an explosion has been reported at the Pentagon in the Washington, DC- Alexandria, VA area and now there is something else reported in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Truly, these are treacherous times and we as the "called out" of God must pray and stand firm in the belief of what the Lord has given us.

I am reminded of a few scriptures and I want to share them. As my husband says when he preaches "I wont be long, but I am not going to hurry". I take this very seriously, for the world for which we live is in trouble.

"Tell the righteous it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked, it shall be ill with him, for what his hands have done shall be done to him." (Isaiah 3:10-11)

"Whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in Heaven; whatever you loose on Earth shall be loosed in Heaven"

"If my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; Then, I will I hear from Heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land"(2 Chronicles 7:14)

- New King James Version of the Holy Bible

LET US PRAY.

Almighty and Everlasting God, the author and finisher of our faith and the hope of our Salvation. Your people unite to beseech thee, in times that are perilous and with emotions that are overwelming. We do not understand the things which are happening, but we do understand that out thoughts are not your thoughts and our ways are not your ways. However, we lift up this world, which you created unto you. We lift up all of those who lives have been touched as a result of these cruel attacks. We lift up every family that grieves because of the loss of a loved one, or even the families of all those who are physically or emotionally hurt. Father God, please bless them. The word says "Ask and ye shall receive; seek and ye shall find; knock and the door shall be opened" So, today we copme ASKING that you will supernaturally intervene by healing these open wounds of ours. Then, we are SEEKING the kingdom of God and your righteousness. Lastly, we are KNOCKING on the doors of your compassion and love, that your spirit will overshadow all of the evils of this world. Touch our hearts, souls and minds to be obedient to your will. And Lord, let us be ambassadors of your loving grace and abundant mercies. In the name of the Messiah and Risen Savior, we pray. AMEN

I need thee every hour, most gracious Lord no tender voice like thine can peace afford I need thee, Oh we need thee Every hour we need thee Oh Bless, me now my savior I come to thee

Ar 17:35 (S.A. Time) it has been confirmed that the owers have collapsed, A fire at the State Department,Pentagon bombed and a plane crashed (simply becasue the pilot refused to fly into its target) crashed near Pensylvania.

The Prince of this world knows his end is near and acording to Scriptures he must destroy and cause chaos. God's people need to confirm they identity and now more than ever continue with its great commission. My heart goes out to all those citizens of New York, Washington and elswhere, and any members of our fold rest assured we are praying. Love

Let us also pray for those who are support personel. I am on the Disaster team of the American Red Cross and Disaster teams across the country have been put on "Alert" and we have been told here in Montana that some of us may be asked to help in New York and D.C.

I thank God for this board. I came on today knowing I would find comfort and strength. The prayer was powerful and my spirit was touched.

I trust in God, he will take care of me. O're mountains steep and on the stormy sea. Though billows roll, he keeps my soul. My Heavenly Father Watches over me. (Also hymnal)

I love you all.

In Christ, Carmen

Dear Rev. Rogers,

What can the average American do to help out during this terrible tragedy?

There are several things the average american can do Jazzman. 1.) Go to the American Red Cross and give blood. Right now we have a national shortage and blood from across the country will be sent to the NYC relief efforts. 2.) Organize prayer meetings at your churches this week. 3.)set up a fund to help with burial costs to families, unfortunately this is something that we don't want to think about but it is a hardship for families. 4.) Donate money, any amount to the American Red Cross, ear mark it for disaster relief in NYC. 5.) We have several AME churches in NYC. Hopefully they will let us know of special needs that we may not be aware of, so we can help. 6.) All of our armed force bases are on full alert. Pray for them and contact their family members to offer emotional support. Rev. Robert Payne of Union Bethel church in Great Falls Montana is a captain in the airforce at Malstrom Airbase. The base is on lock down, I have contacted his wife to let them know I and others are praying for them. 7.) THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW GOD AND JESUS, THEY ARE AFRAID. DURING THIS DARK TIME WE MUST TELL THEM OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. It is times like this that it is our duty to evangelize. Jazzman these are but a few suggestions, I am sure others on the board will offer more. Thanks for asking. And let us continue to trust God.

This is really a sad day for all humanity. As the 'called-out, fire baptized" children of God, we need now to unite and pray. Yes, we must pray for those have died in this heartless deed of terror and their next of kin, pray for those who are traumatized, pray for the USA and pray for those who are responsible.

I have called out special prayer meetings in my congregation and we will specifically pray for calm and reason; we will pray that this senseless deeds will stop and that the USA and people all over the world (whose lives has been touch direct or indirect), can continue with life - praising and thanking God, always.

God Bless Us All

The mind-numbing events of today make me reflect on an immortal phrase from a former US President, .........."This Day will live in infamy" Dec. 9, 1941. My prayers go out to all victims in this sinister act of unmitigated evil. Truth be told, my feelings right now are to enlist in the Armed Forces and assist in the "search and measured reprisal mission" for the cowardly individuals responsible for this national tragedy.
