Putin "shocked," Russia on alert By ANTHONY LOUIS

MOSCOW, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent President George W. Bush a message of support following the apparent attacks on New York and Washington on Tuesday.

In a telegram to Bush, the text of which was released to the media by the Kremlin, Putin strongly condemned the attacks and issued his condolences to the American people.

"Dear George," -- the telegram reads, "I am deeply shocked. The series of barbaric acts aimed against innocent people fills us with anger and indignation."

"There is no doubt that such inhuman acts must not go unpunished," Putin's message says. "The entire international community should unite against terrorism."

"I ask you to pass our deepest sympathies to the relatives of the victims of this tragedy, and to all suffering American people. We understand their sorrow and pain as Russia has also suffered from terrorism," Putin's message says.

Later, Putin spoke by telephone with U.S. national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, asking her to pass on his condolences to Bush.

Putin also made a statement on national television, calling the attacks on U.S. civilian targets "an event that goes far beyond the borders of the United States."

The attacks are "a brazen challenge to all humanity, or at least to all civilized humanity," Putin said, adding that Tuesday's events should "unite the world in the fight against terrorism, the scourge of the 21st century."

Kremlin officials told United Press International that Putin had summoned his key power ministers, including the foreign, defense and interior ministers, for an emergency meeting to discuss the implications of the tragic attacks on New York and Washington.

Putin's aides said the Russian leader was being kept informed of the latest developments, and had described the attacks as a "terrorist attack" and a "terrible tragedy."

Meanwhile, Russian air forces and anti-aircraft defenses were placed on heightened alert Tuesday following the attacks on U.S. cities, the semi-official Interfax news agency reported.

"In connection with the events in the United States, a series of anti-terrorist measures is being put into action," the air force command said in a statement, without specifying what action was being taken.

Russia's national airline, Aeroflot, said all flights to the United States were suspended until further notice. Aeroflot flies to New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. A flight from Moscow on its way to New York at the time of the attacks was diverted to Canada. --

It's nice to get such a strong statement of support from an old Cold Warrior.

This sucks!

It's been a few hours and the consensus is in by all the major news media and puppet leaders: the destruction of the world trade center and the attack on the pentagon was an act of terrorism.

What about just one network asking a few questions? What about the Russians, Chineese, Iraquis (and all the other nations we have *&@ked over these past years)?

What about mind controlled pilots? What about a space based weapon system taking control of the planes? Lastly, what about the Israelis themselves, doing this for western support for irradication of the Palestinians?

When the financial markets fall later this week, and people are in a frensy about who to blame for the loss of all their money, bet we get to watch this scapegoat scenario develop into a full blown escalation of war against the arab world. (notice how they showed us Palestinians cheering. Why do they include their children in this?)

It's not going to be a fun week for any of us. Let's at least keep cool heads and make the necessary analyses for ourselves.

Jesus Christ Ken! How about quit crying "wolf and War"! Some folks need some comfort and help. Keep your hate mongering smut to a silence. How you donated blood?
