The `malicious gossip` side of dog showing is something that I will not miss. I showed dogs for some seventeen years, and I honestly think it has gotten worse in the last few years - it`s a shame.

I was sad rather than angry to hear so much unpleasant tittle tattle going the rounds. One tale turned out to be not quite as first told to me, however at a time when John Smith had so sadly passed away I felt there were other more important things to converse about rather than repeating and thereby spreading nasty gossip. In the face of last week's terrible devastation it is all smallfry.

it might be smallfry Gloria, but sufficiently serious to stop a new person from continuing to show her dog in what should be an enjoyable hobby.Unfortunately there are some people around who are not happy unless they can pull people apart and critisise others,either the people themselves or their dogs,I have heard it myself whilst standing around the grooming area or outside the ring, some of it is meant for a bit of fun but some is really cruel with no other purpose than to hurt people. its a sad world that we live in, im only thankfull that I have met more nice people in the dog world than I have met nasty ones but I have met some people that have been less than helpfull. I can walk away and think fine if they dont want to talk to me thats ok but i know there are some people that would be deeply hurt by the cutting comments and remarks. I dont know what people hope to gain from it, there must be something wrong with THEM to want to hurt people in this way, what happened to being nice to one another and if you cant say something nice then dont say anything at all
