lookin' for some banties...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

hello everyone, i just had a quick question here for those living in North California. I live in Davis, near woodland or dixon, and i was wondering if anyone knew where i could find some bantam chicks (preferably cochin) for sale. I really don't want to order them by mail...and I doubt that i would buy enough for them to want to ship over anyway. I've called a few people, but no one seems to know anything. thanks for your help.

Don't know about the geography, but Belt Hatchery is in Fresno. If it's close enough, you can drive over and pick up the birds.

I am not in California but have some silkies chicks. They are aprox 21/2 months old. They are a cross from my black rooster and my buff and white hens. If you are interested I would sell them real cheap and you would have to pay actual shipping costs. If you want to email me with your zipcode I can give you an actual cost.

Due to the shipping crisis caused by the USPS deal with Fed Ex and the airlines refusing to take live critters as mail, some hatcheries have closed their doors, some are only delivering day-old chicks within truck driving distance from the hatchery, and some are only shipping fertile eggs.

Since the birds can no longer fly as mail, you will be paying cargo fees. Check it out before you seal any deal.
