Canon FD zoom lens focussing problem

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

Hello,

I have a Canon FD 35-105mm f/3.5 lens on my Canon AE-1 body. There seems to be a focussing problem, but I'm not sure.

Here's the problem: When the lens is focussed on infinity, objects in the distance (greater than 20 meters) do not actually line up on the focussing screen (i.e. according to the screen they are out of focus). I have no problem focussing on things closer. The focussing ring lines up exactly with infinity (unlike some of my other FD lenses that focus beyond infinity), but again things in the distance do not line up in the view finder.

Does this mean things in the distance will not be in focus? Does it mean the lens elements are not adjusted properly? I just bought this lens and I'm hoping I didn't get shafted.

Responses directly to my email would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help, Chris Lowe slow1234@excite.ca

Maybe the mount is slightly loose, doesn't seem to take much.
