HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

I have recently served a Sarn on National Home Loans/Paragon. They have sent a form back for me to fill in asking for evidence of identity etc. That part is OK, I understand the need to identify whoi I am and what info I require. What I dont like or understand is the declaration at the bottom of the form which I have to sign. It reads as follows -

I ................. certify that the information given on this application form to the Paragon Group of Companies is true. I understand that it is necessary for the company to confirm my identity and it may be necessary to obtain more detailed information in order to locate the correct data.

There is also a note underneath this stating -

The period of 40 days in which the organisation must respond will not commence until it is satisfied upon these matters.

Do I have to sign? If I dont sign, are they entitled to ignore my request for info?

Please help.

You could telephone or email the Information Commissioner's office for up-to-date advice on this. The telephone number is 01625 545700, and the email address is mail@dataprotection.gov.uk.

Explain why you have problems with this lender's approach (I presume you find it over-intrusive?) and ask why xerox proof of your identity isn't enough. To be honest, NHL/P ought to be satisfied with your identity anyway simply on the basis they contacted you and were quite prepared to engage in a corespondence with you. I think that if you tell NHL/P your full name, and give address details, that they should be able to locate your data. Ask the IC's office what it thinks. IMHO.

Got in touch with DPR as suggested, they were very helpful and sent me an e-mail saying I do not have to sign any documentation to get information I have requested, just to send evidence of identity and fee.
