Suspicion Breeds Confidence : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

That was what John Walsh on America's most wanted said. Then 1/2 hour later he said Now don't get CrazY with this refering to being susicious of neighbors based on differences and/or their behaviors. The wife says this will cause a lot of innocent folk to be harrassed and some even incarcerated. What do ya'll think?

K & S

I agree with you that many innocent people will have problems because of this. It happened with the Japanese in WW2 in a big way. And these people were mostly citizens. It has happened many times throughout history. No reason to believe it will not happen here and now.

One suggestion would be to have people who may be a threat, and are here on visas, asked to leave the country immediately. This would at least lower the numbers of people that who could be misconstrued as the enemy. It would also be less people for our intelligence people to keep track of.

Another suggestion would be to teach people the difference between a Muslim and a Sikh. Just because people wear a turban does not necessarily make them the enemy. Many sources are trying to reach folks with news about Islam. Telling about the religion, not the terrorists. This is a good thing . We need understanding and information about the innocents in this case.

It is imperative that we remove every terrorist we can find no matter where they are in the world, but we need to at least try to protect the innocent, even though we know that we will not be 100% succesful at this.

Talk to you later.

I think it's going to end up being a witch hunt. Nothing is wrong with being leery, but the sweeping powers that are being given out to the FBI and the new Homeland Defense agency are really worrisome.

My niece has a girl friend who is half Indian and half white and she was severely beaten by a bunch of guys because they thought she was middle eastern. That STINKS!!!!! Sadly, I noticed a lot of vengeance graffiti in the city today....I guess I don't have a lot of faith in the system and think it's going to just end up causing a bunch more racial strife because too many people are happy to react before they even think. "Authorities" are people too, and I just really hope that evidence weighs heavier than suspicion. I guess we'll see.

We probably *will* see, given that the media and even a lot of people on the lists I'm on (who ought to know better) are equating Bible- believing Christians with Osama Bin Laden! Wonder just how long it will be before we are being locked up as terrorists -- and having our children taken away to be raised by the State, so they won't be contaminated by our beliefs? (Hint, probably not as long as you hope it will be -- things seem to be moving pretty fast now.)

Kathleen: Don't want to scare you but it is a proven fact that under the new administration DSS (Division Of Social Services) was given an extra 35 million dollars to house "unfortunate" children. My best interpertation is that the SS socisl services expect to be taking away about an 150,000 extra children this year.

Doreen; Your RIGHT it does suck. I hope your friend is ok. The guys should be tared and feathered.

I just saw on TV that after "Americas Most Wanted" this past week-end over 10,000 calls were made concerning suspicious "persons". That is disgusting.

I think we're headed towards an American version of Nazi Germany, except it might not be the Jews that get hunted this time.
Hey, do you remember Joann McGuckin? She has been cleared of all the charges against her, but she still is not allowed to see, much less have, her children! What is going on? Why do they want these children so badly?

-- Rebekah (, October 02, 2001.

Well part of the reason they want the children so bad is so that they can brainwash them!

Have you seen the new commercial on bio-engineered food? It uses kids to try and tell us that it is going to save the world!!!!

Yes, I do believe that there are enough people out there who are taken up with the lies of Islam that believe that the only way to help the world and 'mother nature' is to rid the world of all Christians and Jews.

When the new age movement first started one of the first major magazines, "New Age" published several articles laying out their game plan. Ridding the world of us was one of the first things to be done.

-- Stephanie Nosacek (, October 02, 2001.

I haven't a clue Rebekah. But it seems to be going on all across america. Maybe someone on this board has a clue? Doreen?

-- K & S (, October 02, 2001.

One of my problems with the anti-terrorist package is the wording, ".....terrorists and religious extremist." Does that mean me? What is the definition of "religious extremist?" Anything they want it to be.

-- Laura (, October 02, 2001.

Well, there's that quote from the Nebraska Senator regarding "Christians" indoctrinating their children....let me see if I can find it here-------yup-

"Fundamental, Bible believing people do not have the right to indocrinate their children in their religious beliefs because we, the state, are preparing them for the year 2000, when America will be part of a one-world global society and their children will not fit in. (Nebraska State Senator) - Peter Hoagland "........maybe that explains it?

Has everyone forgotten about project Megiddo? The FBI said that terrorists were fundamental Christians. Kind of a stretch, don't ya think? I will see if I can dig something up on that if you want, but it was regarding terrorist plots and Y2K. Let me know if I need to dig for y'all.

-- Doreen (, October 02, 2001.

Doreen: Why not Lets see if we can put their words to their actions.

-- K & S (, October 03, 2001.

Remember that the bible does say that believers WILL be persecuted. Maybe it is just our turn in this country, because lord knows it is happening in many other places in the world.

I am not saying we should not try to stop it, but maybe it is inevitable.

Talk to you later.

-- Bob in WI (, October 03, 2001.

Good Point Bob,

I've always been taught "God helps them that helps themselves"

Maybe it's time "WE" step up to the plate.

-- K & S (, October 03, 2001.

Lesley may have uncovered one facet of the Government intervention and taking of children. It seems kids can't take the Anthrax prevention medicine. Hmmmm Could the gov alrteady know where & when the "terriorist" may attack with bio weapons?
