How to crack dried corn w/out a grinder?

Can anyone tell me How to crack dried corn w/out a grinder? I don't want to buy anything--but want to know the most effecient cheap way to do this. Thanks in advance

If you only need a small amount put it in a large plastic bag and take a rolling pin or wooden mallet to it.

You can also boil it Ann and feed it like a mush. If you get put on the lists we can get whole corn very cheaply in town, this is how I fed it to the hens. This year we lucked out in that the contract is for chopped corn!! Vicki
