Bronmycin IS doxyxycline

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

Spoke with pharmacist buddy this A.M...bronmycin is doxycycline, just a longer-acting version. It also is a bunch cheaper!!!! As I said in another thread, research studies have shown that Cipro is effective against ALL strains of anthrax, while SOME strains are resistant to doxycycline..see where to order either one overseas without prescription one other thread. Prices for Bronmycin are $30 for 120. Cheapest Cipro generic (yes, they now have a generic for it) is $40 for 30, but everybody would need 2 pills a day of either drug for a month. That means $80 per person for the Cipro...yikes!

So Bronmycin taken 2 tabs daily for 30 days (adult) would provide how much protection for how long?

What is the doesage for a 7 year old (56 lbs)? A 18 yr old (167 lbs)?

With all the mail "slowness" wonder how long a order would take?

There is no recommended dose of either Cipro or doxycycline (bronmycin) for any child under 12 years of age. Any of the tetracycline family antibiotics permanently stain childrens' teeth, both baby and permanent teeth as well as inhibit bone growth. Pregnant women also aren't given tetracyclines for the same reason. Cipro has not been approved for children by the FDA. The dose for an 18 year old is the same as an adult for either drug. I cannot find any medical site which has a recommendation for children to be protected against anthrax.Because I have been out of the Pediatric loop for four years now, I advised my own daughters to ask their Pediatricians for advice regarding this issue. Taking either antibiotic twice a day for 4 weeks protects you for 4 weeks. Apparently, that is the longest period of time which anthrax spores couold possibly hang around in any atmospheric conditions. I have no clue how long it will take to get the meds from overseas. I ordered them anyway today and will be able to sleep well knowing I have done all I can under the circumstances. God bless.

Lesley You may have found the hidden agenda for Our Government having the "social Services" to remove children from poverty families. If there is no known protection for kids perhaps the government already knows what areas will be affected by terriorist.

just a thougt.

We have 2 grand-daughters, 2&1/2 and 7 months old...we have a grandson who will be 3 years old next month....we have a son whose wife is expecting their first child in December...I told all my children that in the event of an anthrax epidemic, it is better to have a living child who is short with black teeth than to have a dead child. The American Academy of Pediatrics is in a pickle trying to decide what to advise folks because there are always some who will panic and give the antibiotics without any need to. I just don't know what the answer is..it's the onlything about this whole scenario which frightens me..all the children who will not be protected against bioterrorism...not only here, but anywhere in the world. I recall seeing those horrific photographs of the Kurd people..entire families dead in the streets, tiny children clinging to their mothers in death. I also recall the same type of photographs when Union Carbide accidently slaughtered thousands of people in India. The entire idea of purposefully using chemicals/bacteria/viruses against human beings is so incredibly evil. It surpasses the hideous atrocities of WW2 and those are hard to beat. Man's inhumanity to man..sigh.

That Lesley Chasko sure is a smart one! I obtained some Bronmycin myself, just in case. I live in the Philadelphia area, and it's always good to be prepared. Thank you Lesley!
