I love my mini/holland lop. She is such a mushface. Loves attention and to be held. I breed dwarfs, mini rexes and little lops. The lops are the most lovable. You can call your local 4H to see if they know of any breeders in your area.

i would recomend one of the meat type breeds as a starter lesson rabbit they can be just as tame and cuddly and hold up better with young children who can be rough ,i have raised many breeds i had some nice lops but they were not as hardy and the dwarfs seemed outright delicate ,i do like the dutch they are small and hardy if you want a small rabbit ,i still raise a few for the pet market the lops i had tended to get hair blockage but the frech lops have a different hair coat and would probably not have that problem ,good luck.

Eastern Maine Rabbit Breeders Assoc. has a website. http://www.geocities.com/fnor25/ Someone in the club might be able to help you find a lop.

A Holland or mini lop is a very good choice. Because of their small size they're easier to handle. I raise Holland and minis and also New Zealand White and Californian. I don't find the lops to be any less hearty than the meat breeds.

Good luck with your search. If you need help finding a lop feel free to email me. I'm also in Maine.

I think a mini lop or just a lop would be great! Tadpole is a lop (she was supposed to be a mini lop but she wasn't! She's normal size. I bred her with one of my Angora's and have beautiful beautiful babies and now one of those babies had babies and there are some beautiful long-haired beauties!

I'm way down in Alabama so can't help you as far as getting a bunny but will be glad to answer any bunny questions if you want to e-mail me direct! suzy
