National News etc...

Theres a single case of anthrax in Florida, supposedly its just a chance case not terrorism. The guy was an outdoorsman so maybe it's the truth. I don't think the national news is telling us the whole truth because yesterday 2 things happened here that make me wonder. 1) We had a Greyhound bus stolen from our town and it was barely mentioned on local channels even after that other bus was hijacked and wrecked. And 2) Yesterday we had a truck driver disappear with a haz-mat truck and he hasn't been seen or heard from yet. They had his dad on the news. Apparently the drivers a local, not a suspicious person, which makes me wonder if someone hijacked him and his truck. What is happening in everyone elses towns out there? Are there things going on locally that aren't being reported? The anthrax thing is scaring me. Whats the latest on medication? God bless you all!

Where do you live, Kathy? Nothing strange here except for an upsurge in sniffles, but the weather has changed, so that is expected too. Being in oil country, I highly doubt anyone would notice a tanker missing for 12-24 hours. BTW, I KNOW this has happened several times in the past with guys using the equipment to fill ponds etal.

Here is a link to the story. It is possible this case came from North Carolina. They expect the man to die.

Kathy, are you in Florida? I saw on another forum a few days ago that there is a haz/mat truck and driver missing from there. Just wondered if it is the same one. Yesterday about 10:15 or so in a section of the nearby large city a lot of children (apparently kids and parents) were walking on the street or seen in cars (seemed to be going home from school). Nothing on the news about it and I can't track down anyone who knows why this was happening or will even admit that it happened. I find it very strange. I've never known school to get out at 10:15 in the morning.

I heard on the radio from Dallas yesterday that there was a pickup full of explosives missing from a construction site in Broken Bow, OK. It was stolen over the weekend and was still missing. They were asking people to report if they saw a pickup with the company name (which I didn't catch) and license plates from Arizona. There had also been several pieces of earthmoving equipment stolen from the area in the last several weeks. They said they didn't think it was terrorist related. Then again, they don't really know since they don't know who has the truck.

My mother-in-law is a lab supervisor at a hospital in north Jersey, and she said they are seeing an influx of people suffering from a really nasty virus, though it seems the virus is running it's course and trhey're discharging people. But you do have to wonder where it came from.

One of our customers for our auction came in this morning and while he was waiting was jawing...

He said that one of the local semi companies just found out that they have been 'missing' about 65 semi trucks and they don't know where they are. This is just since the 11th.

Somebody noticed that one was missing this past week and they started doing some research on it and found that the others were missing.

Good grief, Stephanie, how could a company be missing that many trucks and not know it!! They must have thousands!

-- Kathleen Sanderson (stonycft@worldpath.net), October 06, 2001.

Business must be really, really slow for them if they had that many trucks missing and didn't notice it.

Did ya'll catch on the news where they had been reporting that there were possibly as many as 6 other cases of anthrax in the Florida area? Now they've come out and announced not to worry, it is "only" West Nile Virus!!!!

-- Green (ratdogs10@yahoo.com), October 07, 2001.

The semi company was a leasing company.

'Only' west nile virus? Very nice, now we are measuring the worst of two evils.

I'm sure you've all heard by now, but there is another person in Florida infected with anthrax, a co-worker of the first person, and their workplace is contaminated, also. It's been closed and is under investigation.

For anyone looking for lost/stolen semi's please send me an email. I have seen a line of at least 40, which look to be "brand new" or "freshly painted". The weird thing is that the trucks I see are all lined up in a field, where they can't be seen unless you are really looking for them....which makes me think they are stolen. There are no houses, farms, or businesses anywhere within 5 to 10 miles from where these cabs are parked, and in order to get where they are parked they would literally have to drive through cornfields and woodland to get there. I'm sure this isn't an anthrax case, but if someone is missing a bunch of semi cabs, this could be where they are.
