KILZ paint is so awesome!

Remember a few weeks ago when I asked if KILZ paint would work for the poodle-pee problem we were having on an unfinished wood floor? Well, it works terrific. Not only did it eliminate the smell from accidents that had already soaked in, but it also sealed the floor so that new accidents just puddle, and we can clean 'em up with paper towels. AND, the paint completely covered other old stains on the floor, includng motor oil. Best of all, it cleans up great; I scrubbed a dirty area today and it didn't damage the paint at all. I wish I had known about this stuff sooner; we wouldn't have had to live with a gross floor for so long. I'm sold!

I love that stuff too. I once had to move into a house that had to be completly repainted after 25 years of abuse, and there were some really strange stains that I could not cover with anything else. Wonderful stuff!!!

You should try using it in a enclosed room, after about 1/2 hour you will be higher then a kite and then later what a headache you will have. Love the stuff!!!!!!LOL

We used it on very dark brown paneling in two rooms and are very impressed. Granted, we had to use two coats, but we painted the walls white. It does have a strong odor to it, but it is definitely worth it.

As a painter for 10+ years it was one of my favorite items. I never found anything within reason that it would not cover.

I first used it on a piece of used plywood with motor oil soaked in. I needed a piece of plywood for my sons train set and really couldn't afford a new sheet. I used Kilz on it and to this day the regular coat of paint is still adhering very well.

Talk to you latr

I, too, used to do paint and drywall work and found Kilz Primer/Sealer to be wonderful. It also works great covering odors in rental properties where the "no pets" clause was ignored. ;o)

I have used KILZ on water stained ceilings with good results. However, I tried to repaint some suspended ceiling panels and was unable to cover stains, even after 3-4 coats. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well, I'm going to give KILZ a try myself. In cleaning the kitchen in our new (to us) house we found that the overhead cabinets don't have formica on the very top (where they can't normally be seen) but are bare particleboard and the cabinet sides in beside the stove are the same way. All have kitchen grease on them from over the years which can't be entirely removed. We've cleaned them as best we are able and by tomorrow when they've dried completely I'll give them a coat of KILZ and see what happens. If it takes I've got some good kitchen paint to coat them with that should be grease resistant.

I guess we are in the minority here. We have used Kilz on several stains and not had good luck. Our roof leaked and stained the ceiling (pebbly paint). Used Kilz and two coats of paint but the stains showed through. Tried it on the wood floor in our attic. Had a stain that looked like some kids' chemistry experiment had gone terribly wrong. Had to put 2 coats of Kilz on it and 4 coats of floor paint before it covered it.
