Does anyone have any deoderant recipes-using herbs or essential oils. Thankyou "lenny"

Response to deoderant

This isn't a recipe. But it is very frugal. I bought a "Thai" deoderant stone at my store that sells distillers. I have also seen them at health food stores. It cost me 2.988 and lasted over a year. Hope this helps

Response to deoderant

I think I have more recipes but this is the first one I found. Will check for more later.

Add the following essential oils to 4 ounces of distilled witch hazel:

2 drops cypress 8 drops cedar 2 drops lemon

2 drops rosemary 4 drops patchouli

Store in a glass spray bottle and shake well before using.

You could probably substitute any and all of the EO's for ones you like and have on hand. Just make sure the number of drops add up to close to this recipe. It's important to have a proper balance of EO's and the carrier you're using (in this case, witch hazel).

I like the comidienne George Carlin's idea for what to do when you run out of deoderant, "Put a bay leaf under your armpit. Won't stop the sweat, but you smell like soup". LOL!

SwanLady is right on target. I have been using one of those deodorant stones for 4 years now. You basically wet your armpit very lightly and rub the stone around a bit. I paid 25 cents for mine in the Philippines 4 years ago, and have another 6 in the closet. Goodbye RightGuard!!!

Hi Darlene,

I, too, have a deoderant stone that I purchased at a health food store. Mine lasted over 1 year. I think it was about $4. In the summertime I felt that I needed to use it again in the afternoon but this time of year just once a day is fine. Makes a strange gift, but for the right person, it's great.

I melt 1 oz. of cocoa butter and add any other oil that sounds good at the time such as olive, almond or palm kernel plus enough beeswax to create a somewhat-solid creme. I add several drops of lavender essential oil and/or tea-tree oil (antiseptic properties) to the mixture and allow it to cool in a covered container. This works pretty well although you may need to apply this a couple times each day during very hot and humid weather.
