Andras Angyal's Theory

greenspun.com : LUSENET : History & Theory of Psychology : One Thread

I am having trouble trying to decipher Angyal's theory. If you were going to teach a group of psychology students about Angyal's theory, based on his writings in Neurosis and Treatment, waht would be your ten main points? How would you best explain his theory?

The best approach to a question like this is to consult an encyclopedia. For example, there are entries on Angyal in the Baker Encyclopedia of Psychology & Counseling (this one has a religious focus, and since Angyal emphasized religion, not a bad source, but the entry is short) and in Sue Walrond-Skinner's Dictionary of Psychotherapy. I suspect other encyclopedias would have articles as well. Another good strategy is to consult the Book Review Index or Book Review Digest (your librarian can help you) to locate reviews written when the book was published--often these include excellent summaries. Note that there is already a threat on Angyal on this web- page.
