WE GOT A FREE Craftsman log splitter yesterday!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Husband was working at a home this week where he did all kinds of cutting and carpentry work. He was there when I went to tell him Wed. that I'd found a new Ashley wood burning heater so he told me to go ahead and buy it....

The man at whose home he was working was so pleased with all the work he's done for him this week. Yesterday afternoon after he paid him he asked him if we'd gotten the wood heater and he told him it was still in the carport in a big box and we'd get the pipe this week. So the man said he had something we needed. He took Roy into the basement and showed him a Craftsman electric 10 ton wood splitter! Roy said he'd like to have one of those someday and the man GAVE it to us!!!!

It works GREAT!!! He said it was just in his way and he didn't need it anymore!!!! We've gotten all kinds of other benefits from the handyman business like lots of doors (which I've used in building my rabbit and chicken enclosures), light fixtures, ceiling fans, etc. but the log splitter tops them all!!!!!!

Some people can be so lucky! I guarentee you, that if you cut your own wood you will save a ton of money on your heat bill. Around here you can always find blow downs or tree tops left from loggers. I've got about 3 trees to cut up, but I don't have no hydralic splitter.

Suzy, good for you!!! We have a pretty good log spliter but it cost a lot to operate. It is our grandson. He is big, strong and tough. He loves to show off for his girlfriend. However, He eats like 10 guys. We wonder if sometimes it might pay us to RENT a wood splitter. Oh well, it's fun to have him around.

WHAT !!!!!! FREE !!!!!!! Boy, do I feel sorry for us. My husband gets a 20 ton log truck of pole logs and cuts and splits it all by hand....been looking for a log splitter but they do get pricey. Been doing it for 25 years now so he does have it down to a science in the wood cutting area. Maybe Santa will bring us one. !! Enjoy !!

Helena, have you ever tried looking into renting a log splitter for a day or two? We did this, and it saved a lot of hard work.

Dear Suzy:

That was a great bit of luck. We have a Craftsman logsplitter which we've used for several years. Can't tell you how many trees we've turned into split wood via the logsplitter. It sure helps to keep the house warm and if you've an endless forest like we do with trees that naturally fall during storms, etc., it will pay for itself the first season you use it. Congratulations!

My hubby and I are looking for a new ashley wood stove but was informed that they no longer make new ones. Where did you purchase yours and what size house will it heat? Thanks, Linda
