greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

OK you guys I always thought I know a lot about heating and stoves but what in the world is a 4 or 5 brick propane stove???? Just gotta know as it is driving me crazy not knowing. Maybe I need one and don't know it???

Like most of you not knowing a lot of things right now is driving me since 9/11 our world is not the same and never will be again , don't you sometimes think that Y2K was a practice test to get us ready for what was to come??? I have began to look at it in just that way and somehow knowing we are,or can be prepared is somewhat calming in itself, but lets face it I'm scared out of my wits and not afraid to admit it what about the rest of you??

Wonduful to back your trap door up to on a cold winters morning :>) As Jason said they are wall or floor mount heaters that use the flame to heat a ceramic fire tile. I even saw a 2 brick once as a bathroom heater many years ago.

A stove that you need to throw 4 or 5 bricks at to get it going! LOL!!!! I just couldn't resist that one.

But, really it's like jason says it is.

Basicly what they are refering to when they say "brick" is the number of heating elements in the unit. A "brick" on most units is about the same size as a building brick with a lot of holes in it to let the gas out so that it can be burned. These are made of ceramic so they can withstand the high heat output in the infrared range(the red glow associated with the heaters, not the usual blue glow like a kitchen gas stove). Emory

I've had a few of the brick type unvented gas heaters and luv em. Don't confuse them with the unvented blue flame heaters which are not radiant and not nearly as comfortable to be around. Just ask our cats.
