Training and Development Analyst

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), located midway between Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC, is a national leader in scientific research and development. Presently, we are seeking a Training and Development Analyst to design high impact leadership/management development activities for our staff. This is an opportunity to plan, design, develop, coordinate, administer, and evaluate new and existing classroom and self-paced leadership/management development programs, activities, and resources, including APL's multi-rater Supervisory Feedback Process (SFP); interact with supervisors, HR staff, internal content experts, and external training consultants (including SFP coaches) involved in developing and delivering leadership/management development programs, activities and resources; act as an instructor or facilitator in delivering classroom training; and assist in overseeing the administration of contracts, budgets, websites, files, and archives related to these duties.

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a BA degree or equivalent experience in behavioral sciences, education or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in training needs assessment, training course and curriculum development, instructional delivery, and program evaluation methodologies, a substantial portion of which should be in leadership/management development. A willingness to innovate in the area of training and development, good verbal communication skills, and good organizational, administrative, and computer skills are also required. It is desired that the candidate have experience working with engineers and scientists in a technical environment, an advanced degree or coursework in a related field, and experience with multi-rater ("360-degree") feedback programs, leadership/management development programs, mentoring programs, instructional technologies, and website development/administration. Familiarity with training metrics, training registration databases, tuition assistance programs, and career development is also desirable.
