Argentina's new tactic for the world cup

was speaking to an Argentine guy last night who reckons they have the perfect tactics for the world cup next year. They are going all out attack. 3 defenders 3 midfielders, 1 goalie and 4 attackers. Their idea is to play what they are calling 2 'roaming' markers, one of which knows he will be replaced at half time. His brief is to track the man or key men the ball goes through. He will play further up the pitch putting pressure on deep midfielders and defenders. The coach has identified this area as the international danger zone where most goals start from. He is expected to run and run for the cause. He will be swapped like for like at half time. The other marker will drop off the striker stopping any ball through. The rest are attackers (think Saviola et al) who's short passing and dribbling ability with pace is devastating. They are well confident. Veron is to play playmaker in the central zone. interesting.

...... preparing the orange segments for half-time. Same role that he fills with such distinction at SJP.

the happiest I felt at a starting line up was at the end of Kenny's first season when he hadn't had a chance to impose his will and picked Tino, Sir Les and Shearer as our forwards. As an opposing manager how do you cope with that ? Double mark them all ?

Did anyone see the 4-4-2 top 50 football photos special over the summer. The winner was Belgium v Argnetina from 1982 (NOT 1986) and Maradona is int he picture as are 7 Belgian players all with their eyes concentrated on him. How poor must the rest of Argentina been to not to not beat them.
