Does Anyone Purchase Organic Foods From The Wholesaler ???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

After posting my earlier question today I got to thinking about buying from a wholesale company for home. I remember one company, not far from me....think it was Harvest or something...can't really remember though, and they would drop off your purchases if it was a certain dollar amount. Wasn't a Co-op group or anything like that. Don't really like the idea of other people dividing my oatmeal in their own house. Years ago belonged to a co-op and didn't feel good about the cat on the table and all of that. Well...any hoo.....does anyone have an address for me or e-mail?? Thanks !!

Response to Does Anyone Purcahse Organic Foods From The Wholsaler ???

We have an "Old Threshers" day in town. They use big steam powered equipment to keep alive the way it used to ge done. They get organically grown wheat from a local grower to use for their demonstrations. After the thing is over, we buy a 20 gallon tub of the wheat for $3.00. We grind it all during the next year, and feed any left overs to the poultry.

Helena, I don't know where you are located but I purchase for a wholesale natural foods cataloge. You have to have a minimum order of $200.00, before they will ship. You can achieve this minimum by having other add to your order. Anyway here is their web address, www.azurefarms.com They are based in Oregon and I'm not sure of their delivery boundries. Their phone # is 541-467-2230 I hope this helps.

Helena...I don't know where you live either, but I used to belong to the Federation of Ohio River Cooperatives and ordered everything from them through a local "Food Buying Club" until they started charging all these fees and dues and blah blah blah. I was really missing the products I used to get and found out that a local grocer orders from FORC once a month. Now I can get my "old" goodies from him and he only charges me 10% markup for his trouble. I'm now going to have bulk tofu and soymilk and cheese again! Harmony

Helena,

I too have been looking for an organic wholesaler. What I did was looked up Bob's Red Mill as they have products in the grocery store. Their web address is www.bobsredmill.com. They carry some organic items including grain, flour, cereals etc. The largest size offered in their online catalog was 25# but maybe they would sell in larger amounts if contacted by phone. They are located in OR. Shipping was not that expensive for me as I live in WA. If you order more than 200# they ship at a reduced rate. Good luck!

I took my father to the doctor the other day, and there were pamplets on the waiting room table for the following: Native American Natural Grassfed Beef. $2/lb custom cut and wrapped. (256)488-5661 or (256) 396-2058 or rsteele_43@msn.com I haven't tried them myself, yet, but the cattle are pasture-fed with no antibiotics, steroids, pesticides, insecticides, etc.
