Farrakhan asks for proof on bin Laden

Minister Louis Farrakhan called Tuesday on President Bush to lay out the evidence against Osama bin Laden so people may judge whether he was involved in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"Don't hide behind national security," Farrakhan said in a speech marking the sixth anniversary of the Million Man March. "The nation would be more secure if you give the American people a reason to fight."

Even though the U.S. and its allies say they have proof that bin Laden and the Al Qaeda network were responsible for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Farrakhan said: "They have lied before, and there's no guarantee they are not lying now."

"There's nothing wrong with asking the American government to show us the proof," he said at a 2 1/2-hour speech at the Christ Universal Temple, 11901 S. Ashland Ave. Reporters were not allowed inside the temple but were invited to monitor Farrakhan's remarks over the Internet or by TV satellite.

Farrakhan, who heads the Nation of Islam, has previously condemned the terrorist attacks as "vicious and atrocious."

On Tuesday he again urged U.S. leaders to re-evaluate foreign policy. "Is there a better way to defeat terrorism?" he asked. "Must hundreds of thousands of innocent lives be lost and the cause of terrorism never be addressed?"

Farrakhan needs to be retired, permanently.

I have a co-worker who is a Farrakhan follower - she's always trying to convert other African-Americans to her cause. Have actually heard her tell others about the UFO that's going to come down and exterminate whites, that whites are demons, etc... Absolutely crazy nonsense! Fortunately, most folks see her for the crazy that she is.

The day of the attack though, two other co-workers saw her jumping up and down for joy when she heard that the Pentagon had been hit. She was reported to her superiors and to *others*.

I sincerely hope she and others like her get what's coming to them.
