In my experience, Tri-X pushes one stop better than HP5+ when processed in D-76 straight . That said, I hope somebody proves me wrong. I otherwise prefer HP5+ and would love to know a good dev for pushing it.

Try pushing it with DDX, experiment with the times, but I used it with 5+ last weekend @1600, developed in DDX 1-4 68 deg, for 14 min. Printed great.

I have been pushing HP5+ up to EI:3200 using Ilfotec HC and Ilford*s recommendations for developing times and dilutions. results are very good. However I think Tri-x looks beautiful, especially the highlights, when pushed one stop and developed in D-76 1+1. I do most my work in natural light using Lastolite reflectors to open shadow areas.

I've always heard Tri-X pushes better than HP5+, although I've also heard the gap has closed. I've also heard that either film pushes best in diluted D-76, 1:1 or even 1:3. Of course any of the phenidone based developers might also be a good choice: FG7, Ilfosol- S or Mytol.

I would suggest, however, you give the new Delta 400 a shot. I don't normally push film, but I've been dazzled by the latitude this film shows. I think it would be an excellent candidate for a one stop push.
