Is an annulment required if my previous marriage was outside the Church?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I am hoping to be married in the Catholic Church. My fiancee is Catholic and has never been married. I'm non-Catholic and was previously married to a Catholic, but the wedding ceremony was not conducted in the Catholic Church. Do I need an Annulment, or does the Church not recognize my first marriage since my previous wife was baptised Catholic yet did not get married in the Church?

Thanks for your assistance.

Yes you will have to obtain a decree of nullity due to lack of Canonical Form before you can marry.
