Anyone on here ever had or used a round barn? How practical are they. I am interested in anyone who has seen or used them.

My grandfather had one when I was a teenager. I was fun working in it and it was big. He had the center as a storage and platform and then put a wooden fence with a gate on each side cutting it in half. On each half he had a gate going to differen pastures. He also had a squeese shut in one in side fence next to the gate. When it came time to work cattle we could put them all in one pasture and run a few in at a time and eather work them in the shut or run them through and into the next pastrue with grandpa on the middle platform using a liquid mix and squriting them at they went by him and out the other side. the liquid was for flys and ticks. The bats love the barn!! Once a summer we would have a bat shoot because you could not even see the rafters there would be so many. Good luck with yours.

Round barns are usually quite large and have several levels. The center of the barn usually used for ventalation. The first floor is used for hay storage. No bales, just piles of hay. The second floor is used for horse stalls. A spiral ramp goes around the barn to get the animals and hay to the second story.
