Low Tech Farm Wagons

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I found a fantastic web site for low tech farm wagons. The site is for farmers in Kenya and other developing states, but we can use the plans just as well on our places. They are made with simple tools, no machining, and minimal welding.

Also on the site are plans for building materials, rainwater harvesting, and water lifting.

Sadly land mine clearing is a topic for discussion there too. Mans' inhumanity to man is certainly alive and well in the world still.

We are certainly not as poor (money-wise) as these folks, but quality homestead made products are a universal source of pride...no matter where you live.

and another web site you might look at is www.vita.org (Volunteers In Technical Assistance), a organization set up very much like the Peace Corps. The web site has a library of reports, with LOTS of info, set up for DIY's. Take a look, you might be very impressed.
