ADMIN - In case Greenspun goes down, here's where to go

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread

If this site goes down for some reason, we can meet over at the old ezboard Currents site. You'll have to put up with some pop-ups but not for too long. I don't think Greenspun has been down more than about 12 hours and that was during summer vacation (it's run out of MIT). If you're not already registered at ezboard, I'm afraid you'll have to register to get into the other site.

Please bookmark this url: http://pub15.ezboard.com/fcurrentsfrm33 or click this hotlink if you want to do it all on the keyboard instead of cutting and pasting.

Also, a reminder: if we have problems with trolls here, as has just happened to Unk's, we will have to go to a password-protected forum. You may wish to send your real e-mail address to the forum mailbox--jas_donald@yahoo.com--so that we can send you a password if the need arises. If you put it off, no sweat, the password challenge will pop up and there will be the mailbox address to click on at the bottom.

We know there are a lot of lurkers--please do add a note now and then so we know you're out there. We're very insecure, you know. A simple "Good post" will suffice. (Barefoot, if you post "good post" below this, I'll sprinkle anthrax on your goolies).

If you forget to bookmark the URL at the old Currents site, at least put jas_donald@yahoo.com in your address book because that's the only way you'll be able to get it if this site goes down. We know from past experience that people start to get withdrawal symptoms after half a day, some after half an hour, lol! (There is NO 12-step program.)

There are only 11 steps. I refuse to apologize for my doomer addiction!

Goolies? What's that? Is it anything like jewelies, as in family- jewels? Ooooo no, not that! And don't put it on his brownies either.

Yep! British for family jewels, lol!

Do you have to have references to apply for the password?? I have been lurking here for months but would really miss this if you were to go into "hiding". :>)

Not really. You just have to have two pieces of photo ID, birth certificate, green card or better, fingerprint check, and anthrax test, and you must like cats.

Nah, send a mail to jas_donald@yahoo.com. James will pass it on to the Despots Committee and one of us will file it and tell you you're on the list. If something happens, we'll notify you, whether to go to ezboard cos this board is down or that you'll have to use a password cos some wacko decided to cause problems here.

I'm going to change your address cos it looks like a real one. It's a pain to use the yahoo address file thingie so I'm not going to put you on the list unless I know for sure it's real. Send that e-mail!

P.S. Now that you've blown your cover, how about posting some stuff?

Hi OG!

FYI, that link and that addy don't have a place to login. Also I sent an email to jas_donald@yahoo.com a while back, maybe a week ago (not sure exactly when) and never got a reply. Could it have been overlooked?

Hi, Aunt Bee. Sorry you didn't get a reply. I know you're on the list to receive a password, if and when one is implemented, cos I did it myself. I either forgot to send a reply or it got lost at yahoo. 50-50, either way. I am an old git and sometimes forget things--the Despots Committee will laugh in most superior fashion and tell you the senile old geezette often forgets things. I don't care, they'll get old one day and then they'll be wracked with guilt about their cruel taunts.

It's not an easy job, being the Mother of All Despots and forgetting where your glasses are.

LOL OG!! I think lots of folks forget things, no matter their age. It's just that when you get older, you admit it!! Thanks, I appreciate you, and ALL your efforts to keep us updated!!
