Response to woodstove

it should be a special heat resitant glass, was it? if so, take it back to where you bought it

Was it the right kind of glass? It needs to be pyro-cerm glass. It sounds like they have been giving you the wrong kind if it is cracking.

When my hubby broke the glass with a log the glass company sold us the wrong kind of glass even though we explained what we wanted it for. We got the next kind, the right kind at no charge. But only after we researched and found out the difference and had to explain it to the glass company. They should have known what kind of glass we needed in the first place but they didn't.

We have an old 1920's Kalamazoo stove in our livingroom. The "glass' in it is really mica glass...a mineral of some sort. You would think it was a piece of plastic. We purchase this in Lehmans's catalog...very inexpensive too. Was fine until the grandson's one day deceided to poke holes in it...the little darlings. Maybe this would work for you if you cannot find the heat resistant glassor maybe your would prefer the "mica' glass instead. Good Luck

If you paid 35 bucks, my guess is you got the wrong kind of glass. Go to a repuatable stove shop and they should be able to get you the right stuff mark. If the gasket is installed properly , that should give the glass enough room to expand.
