Rhytmic metallic knocking sound?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

F4 with less than 500k on the clock has just started to making a metallic knocking sound from I think the cylinder head or close to it. It has a rhythum that beats with the engine rev i.e. if revs increase so does the frequency of the knock. Anu ideas anybody? Thank you.

I know this is an overdue response but I had a similar experience, I have an F4 Oro #109 and at about 5500 miles it started to make a knocking noise in the cylinder head.

Turned out that one of the cab sprocket retaining bolts had worked loose (they said).

Been OK since but subsequently the cams were replaced under warranty (due to slight wear on one cam lobe).

Hope yours is sorted by now.

Regards,

Mark.
