Morning everyone! Or at least Gilbert. Are we the only ones on today? My brain is still completely scrambled from 2 massively emotional concerts the last 2 days, so it's hard getting my mind round the football this morning. The fact that I still haven't gotten alot of sleep probably doesn't help, so I'll apologize now if I ramble more incoherently than usual. ;-)

HOWAY THE LADS!! Let's get another 3 points!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Good morning from Ottawa, Canada

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Hi Ciara, there is live coverage here in HK. I am confident that we can collect these 3 points and move back to the fourth place tonite.

Will come back in the half time. See ya.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Only the webcast for me, so looking forward to reports from those of you with televised coverage. :-)

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

argh,....computer already crashed. Anything happen in the last 5min?

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

cr@p! Already down a goal? What happened?

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Again with poyet!! When will we learn?!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

0-2 Poyet shit!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Hey people. Down 0-1 already? =[

The game is televised here in Sweden but impossible to watch because every sports bar is full of Hammarby fans, they are playing for the gold in allsvenskan today.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Eeeh, wtf is going on. Wasnt Hughes supposed to man mark Poyet

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Sounds like we've had some decent attacks, but I can't tell if we're falling apart in Spurs box, or Spurs are just defending us out of the game. I still feel like we can get something out of this, we have the ability. The players just have to be hungry enough.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

I sure hope we will!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Apalling. We look a totally different team from last week. Tottenham definitely seem to want it more than we do and are closing us down at every opportunity. Acuna is awful as is Solano who hasn't passed to a black and white shirt all afternoon.

Both goals were gifts as neither player was being marked. Dreadful defending. I have no confidence that we will get ANYTHING out of this game.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

I do not know who is doing the commentary for you ciara, but we have had no good attacks.

Their first goal was a corner that was played to an unmarked Anderton who was about 12 yards out. He shot, the ball came back to him, he shot again and Speed flicked his leg out behind himself and deflected the ball into the far corner.

The second came from a cross down their right to the far post. Poyet who was being tracked by Speed moved towards the near post then took a couple of steps backward, leaving the Welsh captain ball watching. Poyet then had a free header into the far corner.

We are giving then all 5 yards of space when they get the ball. They close us down everytime it comes near one of our players. Bellamy was brought down from behind by Tarricco, he mouthed off and got booked. Tarricco has done this several times and got nothing, not even a word from the ref.

We had one shot blocked by Dean Richards with what appeared to be his arm as he bent to head it. Then Solano tried a cross with 2 mins to go, it too appeared to hit Sherringhams arm.

We are not in this game. We have loads of pointless possession. It appears that we are trying to play a different style than using the width of Solano and Robert and the speed of Bellamy. This may be because we are predictable.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Very poor performance... the team cannot pass with Speed and Acuna not linked between the defence and the front men. Causing Dabizas and O'Brien always dribble from the back to Spur's box. Another typical example indicates our needs on the midfield.

Just spend as much as we can to get David Dunn from the Rovers.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Bellamy was brought down from behind by Tarricco, he mouthed off and got booked. Taricco started the argument as well - all Bellamy did was speak to him as he was walking past - no argy bargy and he get's booked???

Both Taricco and Ziege should have been booked for fouls. This is the kind of game where you get a balant penalty and it's not given. Bring back amateur refs.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

2-0 heh heh "Keep your bilge off this site"

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Dunno why we always lose the battle on the 50/50. Maybe that is because Spurs want more than us. Let's hope the miracle happen again with Spurs throw the game by losing this 2 goals cushion.

But we are not that lucky Manure.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Gus, the webcast commentary is crap. Can't get any kind of mental picture of what's going on. The guy doing the most talking isn't giving much hint of whether we're crap or Spurs are playing well. It wasn't til half-time that they started indicating that we seemed to be playing 3-5-2. Vry frustrating! But being in a glass-half-full kind of mood, I'm still feeling that we can manage 2 goals.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Then again, with Dabs giving the ball away from ko...maybe not. ;-)

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Tottenham now playing 4-42. I think we will have a chance playing the same.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Sorry I can't type faster to keep you updated. We had 52% of play 1st half. Speed just got the ball, ran 20yds with the ball on his left foot then kicked it out as he was aiming at Robert who was standing still.

It is not getting any better.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Spurs running past the defence, 4 players on the edge or in the box, luckily a ricochet to Given.

Shearer brought down, free kick comes off Richards, goal kick. Solano crossing into the defender again.

We appear to be sticking to the 3 5 2 although we are being over run in MF.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

The defenders have all managed to make a run forward today and ALL of them have passed to a Spurs player. They are following the midfield. This is really poor

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

A cross by Solano caught by Sullivan - how many times has that happened today?

Good cross by Bellamy.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Starting to look a little brighter

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Corner to us. LETS GO!!!!!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Good corner by Robert cleared off the line. Bellamy started to play more on the right and we look better. Bring on Lua Lua for Nobby and move Bellamy to the right. It's just crazy enough it might work.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

The main webcast announcer seems to have woken up more in this half. As has Mick Martin whose analyis is helping give a better mental picture of what's happening

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

lots of possession not too much good penetration. Tottenham defending in depth but look dangerous on the odd break. Midfield certainly lacking. Bellamy running his heart out Acunya long shot fumbled by Sullivan after corner cleared off line.

Getting harder to see how we can get something from this game

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

the fans have woken up. Even when it was 0-0 it was deathly quiet. Now it's a bit livelier

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Lua Lua and Bassedas coming on

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Sounds like it's back to hit and hope. argh!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Nobby and Acuna off

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Lua Lua Bassedas about to come on Accunia Solano off

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Not sure what Bassedas can do that Acuna can't, but maybe change for change sake will help?

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Acuna did nothing tis afteroon. Bassedas could not be any worse

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Just has fresher legs to do nothing on? ;-))

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

We still seem to have most of the play and none of the ability. We get caught in possession and pass the ball to them.

The last 2 dangerous crosses came from the byline. All the other crosses come from a shallow possition and about 5 - 10 yards short of the box. The ones that swing in, the keeper gets, the ones that go outwards the defenders just head away.

All these things buff teaches u10s not to do.

Desperation now with a double substitution, 50,523 in attendance, where are the other 3,000?

Can we bring on another 4?

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Oh cr@p...Rebrov coming on now. We're done for the day. Nice to hear Ferdinand getting applause.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Ameobi in place of Hughes

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Who's the ref? Is he wearing Spurs kit?

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Lua Lua just did an excellent run and he passed! Unfortunately to Bellamy who was offside.

Shola on for Aaron

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Shla on, didn't hear who went off

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Or even Shola. Taking Hughes off, though? We're really getting desperate. Just can't see us getting 2 goals now though.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Unbelievable tackle by Chris Perry - went straight through Robert to win the ball. Yet no free kick never miind a yellow card.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Bellamy blasted wide. Great chance. Should have squared it to Ameobi

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Bellamy will never get a better chance..pace flair can't shoot

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

ARGH!!! NO!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Is it FT yet? Just end the misery already.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

If you have the same commentary Kegsy, who is Ammo Eeby.

Bellamy 1 on 1 and should have passed the ball shoots and misses.

Robert to Bassedas who shoots and misses.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

The guy on Metro was talking about "Solallo" earlier. ;-)

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

I think I do have the same commentary and I was wondering the same. Should call him Shola - it's much easier.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Rebrov over the bar from 7yds nobody mentioned Shertingham almost snapped the bar earlier

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Only 3 minutes before I can go to bed!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Just to sum it up, this will be Spurs first clean sheet since February and their first away win in 24 games.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Black and White Santa strikes again. :-|

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Fantastic run by Lua LIa. He has improved leaps and bounds since last year

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Lua Lia? Sorry Lua x2

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Rebrov clean through great save from Shay

come on ref blow up before it gets worse..can't see it getting any better

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Sounds like we're still trying at least. Small comfort, but I'll take what I can get at this point.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Game over. A sh!te performance in the first half really cost us. Second half was better. Lua Lua should start ahead of Nobby in the next game.

Good night all.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Thank god that's over. Off to do my laundry and grab a nap before the MLS Cup final. BAck later to try to finish catching up on the last couple days threads. See you later, lads.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

I'm staying up to watch Leeds v Chelsea, I might see some football in this game!

There is no end to my nerve while Mrs gus is away!

I think the performance tonight was worse than against Wham!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Couldn't agree more Kegsy In the short time he was on Lua Lua did more than anybody else....even some skill there

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Not as long as his arse points to the ground.

Players such as Acuna and Griffin had good games and were dropped for Speed and Barton. Neither of whom deserved to play.

Not saying I disagree, just that it will not happen.

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

Thats three games I've had the boys around for beers and cheers.

W ham 0-3

Liverpool 0-2

spurs 0-2

Think I'll watch the next game solo.

Bellamy Ok Solano not!!

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

And what is it with the 3-5-2 formation? Why can't we stick with the 4-4-2 wich we are able to handle.

Poyet just loves to plays against us, doesn't he. We should have bought him and exported him to South America where he cant' harm us.

Frustrating

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2001

It's not the formation, if the middle of the park is devoid of ideas, & teh wing(well Robert) gets tightly marked, we're done for. Christ we need Dyer & a mate.
