greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

You asked for ideas for Christmas gifts....The Dollar Stretcher has a great web site http://www.stretcher.com/00/001211g.cfm Thia is a great site with a newsletter every week. I copy the ideas to keep in my file cabinet. I really think we should give usefull gifts.

Jo, I love this site too. I just wish I had more time to read all the great information in it. Thanks!

Mellissa you were talking about using cloth napkins in another thread, what about making place mats and napkins to match. I was just visiting the Duncan paint site and they showed aprons to make. You could make one to match your place settings. One person said they didn't have much money but assorted fabrics and trims. Cut fabic in strips or squares and sew together and make it look like a quilt pattern. I have some Christmas fabric I haven't done anything with,so this is good idea even for myself. 12x18 for placemats, remember to cut bigger for the hem. Cold weather always get me in creative mood. We may have snow on all the hills when we wake up.
