Honey

I am getting a sore throat! I know you can use honey in some way, but how? Also post other uses for honey if you like.

You can add honey and lemon juice to a little bit of whiskey. Warm it up and sip. Don't boil it or some of it's medicinal value will be lost (alcohol).

I put about two tablespoons of honey and an equal amount of lemon juice and rum in a teacup. Fill with very warm water (not boiling, but close!) and drink as quickly as possible.

I've been told that the honey coats & soothes, the lemon juice is an antiseptic and the rum just makes it worthwhile!

I keep a mix of equal parts honey and lemon in a jar in the fridge. A spoonful acts like cough syrup; I also like it in tea, but we don't use liquor. I choose an herbal tea I like, or echinacea (sp?), and mix in the honey/lemon.

Melissa, if you can stand it gargle with vinegar or peroxide first (1/2vingar/perox and 1/2 water)Then put honey on a spoon and put it towards the back of your throat and let it run down. The vinegar will help get rid of infection(or irritant) and the honey will coat with it's anticeptic abilities. Warm tea helps but I usually put peppermint in mine to sooth.Get well and God Bless

Thanks, I am feeling worse instead of better, now I am getting a headache, and I think I have a fever too! I have a tendency to get strep infection, which knocks me out for a few days, plus taking the yucky antibiotics which make me sick to my stomach. So hopefully that is not what is happening...
