Today, October 24, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

Bl. John Angelo Porro (Italian, Servite priest, hermit, d. 1504)
St. Joseph Thi (Vietnamese, army captain, martyred by strangling in 1860 [canonized 1988])
St. Martin of Vertou (French, hermit, abbot, d. 601)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John

John,

Thanks for going back and telling us who Our Holy Catholic Church honors on the days that the forum was down!

Is Oct. 24 the feastday of St. Anthony Claret, Spain, d 1870?

God Bless you John.

Hello, David S. Thanks for your help. I don't know how this great saint was overlooked, so I will give him "extra space" today:

St. Anthony Mary Claret [Antonio Maria Claret y Clara] (Spanish, priest, retreat master, missionary, founder of the Congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary [commonly called Claretians] and of the Teaching Sisters of Mary Immaculate, archbishop in Cuba, confessor to queen of Spain, prophet and miracle-worker, preacher of 10,000 sermons, author of 200 works, spread devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady, d. 1870 in a French Cistercian monastery at age 63)

St. James, pray for us.
God bless you.

John,

Thank You for giving St. Anthony Claret extra space tonight! I think he deserves anything that is possible after giving 10000 sermons! That is equal to giving a Sermon everyday for over 27 years without ever missing a day.

God Bless St. Claret.
