GREENSPUN going down

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Hi all, Just read this on another greenspun site:As you know GICC was down for several days this week. Normally these type of outages can be corrected in a short time through the Greenspun webmaster, but this is no longer the case. As of now Greenspun does not have a webmaster to correct the problems. The following was received from Philip Greenspun. Subj: Re: Regarding greenspun.com -- thought you'd like to know... Jin is going to go out there tomorrow morning and reboot it. But the service is dying. There is nobody to maintain it anymore.

So it looks like if there is a crash, there won't be anyone to fix it. I guess we just have to hope that everything goes smoothly or look for another home.

Any suggestions?

I noticed that the backup forum didn't work the last time greenspun was down. Sure would miss being in touch with everyone if this happened. Just thought you guys would like to know. Daryll

Thanks for the info, Daryll. I, too, could not get to the back-up forum during this last down time. I am working on creating a new (additional) backup board on EZBoard. I can't do anything today, but I will put a higher priority on getting it going starting tomorrow.

I would like input, especially from those of us who most value the privacy here, about this backup board. I was THINKING about making it available to ALL of CS, with a passworded section for BTS. So, I'd like opinions from all and sundry on that!

I'll try and find some examples of EZBoards to post for you to check out so you can see how the format works. But later, or maybe tomorrow.
