[FUTURE] Is this board's future dimming?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread

Like everyone else, I was wondering what the problem was earlier this week concerning board access. Martin over at Glitch Central recently posted an e-mail he got from Phil Greenspun saying that the Greenspun server is no longer being maintained. The implication is that the next time the site goes down could well be the last time. We may have to learn to love EZ board. So what happens to all the archives from the TB2K forums and here? BTW Old Git, I tried to sign into Currents this morning to post this but the password I have wasn't accepted (the one that begins with "D"). Has it been changed recently?

Coast Watcher, I've heard this rumor since December of 1999.

Yup, pw has been changed. But 99.9% is over here anyway. When we heard that boards were getting overloaded because of September 11 news, we decided to open up the preps forum to everyone. I do send out an e-mail to everyone but apparently Yahoo is not the most reliable of services. If you make a note of the mailbox address (jas_donald@yahoo.com), you can keep in touch if Greenspun suddenly goes tango uniform.

I've been more busy (thus tired) than usual lately and haven't had time to look into alternatives, although we have one very good prospect. Besides the vociferous regulars, we have a quite large lurker population, who write from time to time and let us know they get a lot out of the board, so I'd hate to just let the thing go. We'll figure something out. After what you say about Greenspun, we'd better find something PDQ.
