SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) — A malicious computer program quietly making the rounds on the Internet appears to be an e-mail from the American Red Cross soliciting donations, but actually attempts to steal credit card information, antivirus experts said Thursday. When an attachment to the e-mail is opened, the malicious program, called Septer.Trojan, prompts people to fill in a donation form purporting to aid the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The information is then sent to a Web site that is not affiliated with the Red Cross, according to antivirus firm Symantec.
