Buildin "dolly" transportation. [preachin a mite]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

A hard day's work today for the old hillbilly and Calvin. Our little granddaughter "Maddie Big gurl Gibson" got a Barbie Jeep last week. It's just not big enough to haul all her dollys' so this old hick volunteered to build'r a little tow behind trailer. She agreed most heartedly. Guess what I was doin today!!! Got the frame cut out and ready to wireweld it together tomorrow I rekon. The pipe [came from wallyworld west] is from an old clothes hanger thingy that had little wheels on't. Well anyhow---it is gonna be about 20" square around the base and with a little llight built wooden "box" for the dolly's to ride in. Of course, the black pipe cannot stay that color ya'll know. That Barbie Jeep is PINK and the trailer has to be the same color!! Color matchin and all. Boy, what happened to the country way of fix'n things of years ago? Oh well, Walmart has cans of spray paint for about a dollar a can. Don't think they have PINK--!

When was the last time ya'll built something? When was the last time you drew up plans for those projects? If it looks right--built it! Thats my motto!

I'm tired and dry. Fix'n to get a quart of iced T and do some powerful restin---while watchin Southern Gospel Television till bed time---about 30 minutes. Jesus is coming soon. Are you ready? old hoot. Matt.24:44

Hey Hoot! Those little girls will get you every time!! Of course they make pink spray paint! It is amazing what you will do because you love a child isn't it? Just think what our Father in heaven is going to do for us!

I want one too hoot!!!!!!!!!!! I remember my dad making a dog house when I was young. It took 4 men to move it!So the big joke is if he can't weld it he can't build it. Those girls are sure lucky!

What a lucky little girl Maddie is! I'm sure she will have the fondest memories of her grandaddy when she is grown.

Update! Wire-welded the little frame together this morning and then had a "lay down" to rest a spell. Afternoon--brazed the little wheel thingys on the frame and installed the wheels. Don't look too bad for a "hick built" trailer. Why--the wheels even roll! May just get that little dude built for the little dudette yet this week! [She doesn't like bein called a "dudette"--. Says she is a "big gurl"!!]

Another beautiful day today. I'm ALIVE physically, mentally and spiritually! Almighty God has given me yet another day to serve Him. I don't suppose I've set the world on fire for Him today but then again----the day ain't over just yet either! Glory!

It's almost done folks! All that's remaining is the stickers [ Lil Dumplin has to make'm on the puter today] and the tail lights. Have to have those tail lights [reflectors] or it will not be legal. EVERYTHING has to be legal ya'll know. Certain little red headed gurls demand such!

Old Jeep helped me with the wooden box. Actually, he built it while I build the "runnin gears". Sides of the box are made from red cedar and the floor is made from some kind of fancy expensive and thin plywood veneer stuff. Finished with a clear spray finish--it looks downrite purty--even for an old hillbillys like ole jeep and me. I talked to Maddie last nite and told'r it will be done today. Asked'r if she was excited about it. She said "Yas"!

The box is 19" wide and 20" long by 9" tall. Black runnin gears, white wheels. Now that this little project is done--gotta get to think'n what to build next. Been think'n about build'n a fortune to use in the spreading of the Gospel. Lil Dumplin and the old fat man don't require a whole lot of money---kinda "low maintainance" folks I guess.

Oh, BTW- evidence of my healing is being noticed more and more each day--Glory to God! Total and complete healing will be manifest within the next two weeks! I'll keep ya'll updated.

Lets see, where did I put those reflectors? "Calvin---BRING THOSE BACK! LIl Dumplin--ya'll's ole cat has done'n hid those new reflectors. Make'r give'm back." Old hoot. Matt.24:44
