A history lesson about smallpox

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

I submit this as more food for thought. There is a lot of useful medical information published before WW II that is often ridiculed or discounted out of hand today by people who have never read it. Read it for yourselves if you can find it-- and before you buy into a mass vaccination program...

========== Smallpox: Setting the Record Straight By Vaccination Liberation

From the June 2000 Idaho Observer: http://www.proliberty.com/observer/20000607.htm

As many readers know all too well, history is written by the victors or ruling class. This is just as true in medicine since it is the allopathic model of disease which dominates the health care industry today. And the dominant medical hierarchy never misses an opportunity to perpetuate the myth that the eradication of smallpox was accomplished through the smallpox vaccine.

We are constantly told, as though it were an established fact, that vaccines are responsible for ridding the world of smallpox, a disease considered deadly by most historical accounts. When the safety or efficacy of vaccines are ever questioned, we are told that the smallpox vaccine was clearly effective as though this is a well established fact.

Unfortunately, our public libraries no longer carry the historical books and journals which have documented this fraud. But if you were to read many of these documents printed in the late 1800s and early 1900s, you will find that history does repeat itself with regard to the push for mandatory smallpox vaccination and the dismal failure of the smallpox vaccine to protect the public from this disease.

Japan started compulsory vaccination against smallpox in 1872 and continued it for many years with disastrous results. Smallpox steadily increased each year and in 1892 their records showed 165,774 cases with 29,979 deaths -- all vaccinated. During the same time period Australia had no compulsory vaccination laws. The records showed only three deaths from smallpox over 15 years.

In the Philippines between 1917 and 1919, the U.S. government staged a compulsory vaccination campaign which brought on the worst epidemic of smallpox in this island nation's history with 162,503 reported cases and 71,453 deaths -- all vaccinated.

Dr. Charles Nichols of Boston gave this indictment:

“In India, according to an official return presented to the British House of Commons by Viscount Morley, there have been, during 30 years, 1877 to 1906, 3,344,325 deaths from smallpox of persons presumably vaccinated, for vaccination is universally enforced in India....In each and every community where vaccination ceases and strict sanitation is substituted, smallpox disappears. There are no exceptions to this.”

The manipulation of statistics to support England's compulsory smallpox vaccine is discussed in literature distributed by The National Anti-Vaccination League of Britain. For instance, “The Ministry of Health has admitted that the vaccinal condition is a guiding factor in diagnosis.”

This means that if a person who is vaccinated comes down with the disease he is “protected” against, the disease is simply recorded under another name. From 1904 to 1934 in England and Wales, 3,112 died of chicken pox and 579 died of smallpox according to the health records. In other words, people who have been vaccinated for smallpox and later come down with the disease are classified in the health records as having chickenpox, a non-fatal disease.

George Bernard Shaw said, “During the last considerable epidemic at the turn of the century, I was a member of the Health Committee of London Borough Council, and I learned how the credit of vaccination is kept up statistically by diagnosing all the revaccinated cases [of smallpox] as pustular eczema, varioloid or what not -- except smallpox.”

Today there is a “monkey pox” epidemic in Africa. Monkey pox, according to the World Health Organizarion, is clinically indistinguishable from smallpox.

In Anne Riley Hale's 1935 book, The Medical VooDoo, she recounts the history of England's smallpox vaccination and resulting epidemics. The compulsory smallpox vaccination law was in effect when England experienced the disastrous smallpox epidemic of 1871-1873. This prompted the appointment of the Royal Commission in 1889 to thoroughly investigate the entire history of vaccination in the United Kingdom.

The Royal Commission sat for seven years gathering evidence which led to the repeal of England's compulsory vaccination law. They received statistical analysis from eminent scientists and medical doctors which showed that the epidemics increased dramatically after 1854 -- the year the compulsory vaccination law went into effect. In the London epidemic of 1857-1859, there were 14,244 deaths; in the 1863-1865 outbreak - 20,059 deaths; and from 1871-1873 all of Europe was swept by the worst smallpox epidemic in recorded history. In England and Wales alone, 44,840 people died of smallpox at a time when, according to official estimates, 97 percent of the population had been vaccinated.

It was also noted how the smallpox vaccine contributed to the spread of syphilis. The Royal Commission admitted in its Sixth Report a list of 1,000 'vaccino-syphilis' cases submitted to them as evidence they could not deny of the association. Dr. Charles Creighton, professor of Microscopic Anatomy at Cambridge and author of Epidemics of Great Britain was commissioned by Encyclopedia Britannica to assemble information on syphilis (9th Ed, Vol 24, p 23), reported that “in the first year of compulsory vaccination (1854), deaths from syphilis among infants under one year of age suddenly increased by one half, and the increase has gone on steadily since.”

Hale's The Medical Voodoo sums up my sentiments on the topic of government-enforced medical treatments:

“With all the cumulative wealth and prestige attaching to regular medicine today, and the power it wields through the superstitious hold it still maintains over the minds of perhaps half the population, quite enough damage would ensue from the voluntary acceptance of the voodoo practice of vaccine-serum immunology. But to put behind it the full force of the Government -- the public funds and the police powers of the State -- to enforce these destructive and disease-breeding inoculations upon the unwilling and the defenseless, constitutes a form of tyranny in modern times which shames most of the despotisms of the past.”

“The right of the sick to get well by any method they choose -- the most elemental of human rights; and the right of the grown-up man or woman to accept or reject any kind of medication for his or her own body -- without which right they are in effect chattel slaves. Shall these fundamentals of human freedom be denied under a government like ours -- whose Federal Constitution makes a specialty of individual liberty?”

Here's a couple of notes: Vaccines of 100 or so years ago (as well as medical knowledge) at the time is rather different from what it is today. Currently the estimate on the fatality of smallpox vaccine is 1 in 1,000,000. So even today some people may die from a simple vaccination, same as some people can die from adverse reaction to certain antibiotics.

Those who will have adverse reactions and die or get seriously ill from the vaccination will most certainly die if there is an epidemic and get the real thing.

If there is an epidemic, those who refuse to vaccinate can become carriers who infect others (similar to unprotected computers on the net that pass on a virus to other computers!).

Not long ago, if travelling to certain contries where certain transmittable disease was common one was required to submit to vaccination or one would be barred from travelling to the destination by one's own home country, simply to protect one's fellow citizens from the risk incurred by one traveller.

So should an epidemic happen what is your choice?

This may indeed be true. However, there exist at the present time, believe it or not, societies which are convinced that the Earth is flat and others which are convinced man has not travelled to the moon. The literature and arguments of these groups are no less compelling than the literature you have cited. The best part about this world is that one can believe what one wants with little impact upon the laws of physics or biochemistry so far as we know. Cow Pox (vaccinia virus) used for vaccination does not cause Smallpox (variola virus). There were, throughout the period described above, huge upheavals in nutrition, public health and other environmental factors which would affect the levels of epidemics of disease. Moreover, parts of the world which had no endemic smallpox experienced higher than 90% mortality to smallpox when it was introduced to their countries by Europeans. This accounts for high mortalities in the Americas when vaccination programmes were undertaken.

The point made in these articles about the positive impact of simple public health measures is valid. Simple good public health policies such as sewerage and safe drinking water have saved more lives than all medecine put together, I have often read.

The reason they believe it's flat is because there is evidence to show that the world is much larger than the scientist are willing to accept.

"If there is an epidemic, those who refuse to vaccinate can become carriers who infect others (similar to unprotected computers on the net that pass on a virus to other computers!)."

This is the classic claim of those who want to force feed vaccines to others. It is not supported by any facts. And the analogy to computers is misplaced.

The historical facts actually suggest the opposite-- the disease spreads _more rapidly_ among the vaccinated than among the unvaccinated.

In the major epidemic that hit Europe in 1871-2, in studies done in England, it was _vaccinated_ people who counted for the first hundred or more cases in various towns studied. The local epidemics _started_ among those who had been vaccinated.

During the 1871-2 epidemic huge numbers of people died from smallpox who had been _vaccinated_. Prussia. which had the most aggressive mandatory vaccination program in Europe at the time, was not spared.

This will be my last word on smallpox. Anyone who cares to, can find abundant information to counteract the allopathic medical establishment propaganda about vaccines and disease. My first post about smallpox provides a good starting point.
