Men's Health Tip of the DayTreating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome -- Ergonomics And Posture
An important way to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome is to make sure you're not moving or sitting unnaturally as you work. It's important that your wrists are held primarily in a neutral position -- not flexed up or down. Sit up straight with both feet planted on the floor or a footrest. Try to keep your elbows close to your body and flexed right around 90 degrees. Most experts recommend that your wrists stay suspended in the air as you type, instead of resting on the desk or even a wrist rest.
If you follow the preventions discussed in the past five tips and carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms still persist, go see your family physician or a physical therapist -- you may require more earnest treatment.
