I Wanna Talk About Me

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I just love that Toby Keith song! I tend to linger in the shadows for quite awhile just adding little comments here and there. Then the real me bursts through the gates! Well, here I am, ready to join in whole-heartedly.

I grew up on a farm. I love the idea of homesteading way of life. My Maternal Grandparents were Amish (later converted to Mennonite). Grandma made the best cookies! She had 14 children! My Mom was #6 in line. She knows how to do all the stuff a homesteading wife should, except make soap. I adore my Mom!

I am the baby of the family. The spoiled one if you ask my sister and brother. We moved around a lot after junior high since Dad retired and was ever in search of the perfect place to homestead. He and I butted heads constantly. He died suddenly in February of this year. Our story would need to be on its own, separate, thread.

I was married at 19 to the man God knew I needed. We've been married for 13 years. No other man would have stuck with me! I suffer from depression. That, too, is a separate thread! We have 2 kids. We homeschool. Hubby is a prison guard.

We recently bought a house on 4 acres. It is old and cold! Somehow I never absorbed my Mom's teaching about canning, quilting, gardening, sewing, etc. She has helped me SO MUCH here.

I love this forum! Melissa, you are doing a great job! Mitch, I love your stumpers, but have never even come close to a correct answer! I use them to get my brain waves flowing! Hoot, keep on preachin'! Everyone else, keep the great questions/answers coming. I'm learning a lot!

I like that song too, Jo! Toby Keith is so cool! When my son first heard that song, he just sat there with a big smile on his face!!!

I'm glad you feel comfortable enough to post about your life! Just keep on telling us more, whenever you want.

We'll have to introduce your 2 year old to my 4 year old (BDay is Monday!). He can serenade her with this song. He just LOVES it!
