As a Cardinal fan since I was in the crib, I am sorry to report that Mark McGwire has decided to retire. He's in his late thirties, and his bad knee never did come back to close to full effectiveness.

Baseball wear and tear doesn't compare with football, however, not remotely. I've read accounts of old time pro football get-togethers, where most of the atendees move around like crabs.
