An American Airlines 767 has just crashed in the Rockaway section of Queens, New York. It was either trying to take off or land at JFK.Please let this just be an accident, and not the start of Round 2.

Yes Sherri, let it be just a "regular" air crash, whatever that would possibly mean. Radio says it was a flight leaving for Santa Domingo. All New York airports closed.........just too much.

Kinda strange that it happened on Veteran's Day!! And not the "calendar" Veteran's Day, but the extra holiday when more people would be flying! Keep your fingers crossed that it's just a "regular" crash like Diane said :-(!

NPR interviewed some local folks by the accident scene, the eyewitnesses say they say at least one engine come off, was in flames before it came off. This does happen at times (Dad was an Air Force jet repairman) and could have caused the crash.Like car accidents, planes will fail and fall out of the sky at times, it happens. Just bad luck that it happened in New York.
