route 66

Out of curiousity, I drove 66 between OKC and Tulsa a few years ago. WhatI found was a winding 2 lane road passing thru countless small towns with speed traps at every one of them. Some of these towns have little other revenue than traffic tickets. I was lucky and got thru them all, but I will never take that chance again. Pay the toll for the Turner and don't risk it. There is really nothing to see on that route except a weedy trashy two lane road and some boring towns with Barney Fife at the city limit waitng on you. 66 will also add about an hour to your trip.

Every small town in Oklahoma that my family and I have been to is the same way. It seems that they all have the speed traps at every entrance and exit to their tiny towns. Sad!
